Peter Chang is our Member's Choice interviewee for September. He tells us about the food he likes to eat when he wants to be reminded of earlier days and which cuisine he enjoys for its sophistication. He also lets us into his favourite place for the best sandwich in Hong Kong and what he would eat for his last supper.
What do you like most about the website or WOM Guide?
Both WOM Guide and the website have sections specifically for people who are looking for themes, which many other guides just overlook. My cousin has a dog so whenever we meet up on weekends, I'd look into the "pet-friendly" section for inspiration.
What is your favourite cuisine?
Shanghainese as it reminds me of mom's food; otherwise it's French for sophistication.
Which restaurant do you recommend to friends most and why?
For lunch, I tell people to go to Le Salon de The de Joel Robuchon. Only $43 for the best sandwich in town with the most delicious baguette. The price/quality ratio just can't be beat. For dinner, I tell everyone about the Kimberley Chinese Restaurant inside the Kimberley Hotel. They have the most wonderful roast suckling pig that has been stuffed with glutinous rice. It's simply heavenly.
Where did you have dinner last night and what did you eat?
I went back to Bo Innovation and had the Chef's Menu. I was an early fan of Alvin's creative cuisine, but stopped going for the last few years. It was good to go back for a taste and to see how the menu has evolved.
If tonight's dinner was your last on Earth what would you eat?
Anything that Ferran Adria wants to throw in my direction!
