Many people go through post-holidays syndrome and follow various detox plans. Conventional and unconventional plans flood google searches. The more commonly heard ones are: the liver-flush regiment, the stay-sober-no-alcohol week, and the no-carbs-till-that-pair-of-jeans-fits challenge. After the New Year holidays, my self-imposed detox plan was an alcohol-free month to give my liver a rest. It was excruciatingly painful to not be able to drink a glass of wine with good food, whilst your companions swig liberally in front of you. To add insult to injury, I have not lost a single pound throughout the month, though I hope my liver was grateful.
We at WOM promote a healthy lifestyle, but when it comes to food and drink, there is really no need to be too conservative. Take Julia Child as an example, she cooked with heaps of butter (and plenty of cognac), and still enjoyed a very long life, passing away two days before her 92nd birthday! Kung Hei Fat Choi, have a scrumptious Year of the Tiger.
