Hottest new restaurants in October
Date Published : 25 Sep 2017

Welcome the autumn with some of the newest, trendiest and most exclusive restaurants to try this October.
The first ‘meat bar’ in Hong Kong, MEATS is an upcoming restaurant dishing out meaty nosh using mastered techniques of house-smoking, rotisserie and charcoal grilling. Expect melt-in-the-mouth bone marrow and juicy house-smoked lamb chops. Perfectly tender skirt steak and crispy chicken croquettes. MEATS will be opening in Soho this October, and although it isn’t open yet, they're doing a sneaky pop-up for those who can't wait. The MEATS pop-up is currently at the Optimist Restaurant from September 10-14 and 17-21. G/F 28 – 30, Staunton Street, Soho, Central, piratameats.hkOctavium
Everything on Octavium, Chef Umberto Bombana’s new baby is all very hush hush. It's supposed to be quite secretive and a supposedly more ‘personalized’ narrative of his award-winning fine dining restaurants in the past. It’s very hard to get a table in Octavium, one lovely WOM foodie was able to get a table, so read her sneaky review here8/F One Chinachem Central, 22 Des Voeux Rd Central, 2501 5015;Bib N Hops Refined
Bib N Hops, the popular contemporary Korean street food eatery helmed by chef Alvin Leung is going to get a strong boost to its new upbranded “Bib N Hops Refined”, a restaurant that will still feature the same favourites from Bib N Hops but with a couple new dishes and higher quality ingredients. Bib N Hops Refined aims to go towards a more fine-dining direction. Pork Mung Bean Pancake will now have toppings of Iberico ham, while hoe (Korean sashimi, yes the name is funny) will get a more ceviche-like touch with a variety of ingredients rather than the original gochujang dip. Shop 13, 2/F, J Residence, Ship Street, Wanchai, 2882 9128; bibnhops.hkYum Sing Bar
Lee Gardens One will be taking Hongkongers back to the 60s this month. The Yum Sing Bar is a pop-up at the Lee Gardens One that takes inspiration from the original and iconic Yum Sing Bar during the 60s-70s, reimagining the spirit of the generations who spent many nights dancing and partying there. From the stripy chairs and the wooden bar to the bartender uniforms and the cocktail menu, everything will be recreated as closely to the original. And on September 20th, there will be an exclusive one-night-only performance from acclaimed Hong Kong-based singer Rosalie Carpio, a regular singer of the original bar back in the day. 3/F, Lee Gardens One, 500 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay, 2865 0013; facebook.com/leegardenonetosixGuo Fu Lou at The Murray
Fook Lam Moon and Marco Polo is teaming up to move renowned Cantonese restaurant Guo Fu Lou into the new luxury hotel The Murray. Featuring the same elegant Cantonese signatures from Guo Fu Lou including their amazing suckling pig, fresh abalone with soya sauce and their amazing rice in lobster broth. Along with Guo Fu Lou, a few more restaurants, tea lounges, and a rooftop bar will be opening at The Murray. The Murray, A Niccolo Hotel Hong Kong, 22 Cotton Tree Drive, Central, 2118 7289; marcopolohotels.com

New Punjab Club
A new tandoor grill house is opening inspired by the spirit of post-colonial Pakistan and India. Co-founder Asim partners with Michelin-starred chef Palash Mitra to bring an authentic Indian experience that goes beyond curries. The name pays homage to The Punjab Club, a private social and athletic club of Lahore where Asim spent his childhood. Featuring the newly restored tandoor ovens from Asim’s father’s own Indian sub-continent restaurant that flourished for two decades during the 80s.  G/F, 34 Wyndham St, Central, 2368 1223; G/F, 34 Wyndham St, Central, 2368 1223; facebook.com/newpunjabclub

Hotpot PNP
There’s a new hotspot for hotpot in Mongkok. For those who are looking for a hotpot that packs a punch, look no further: the new Hotpot PNP focuses on bringing an innovative hot pot experience with over 30 different flavours of soup from a variety of different cuisines. From Hong Kong-inspired blood tomato soup and Chinese tea soup to wine chicken soup and Korean bean curd soup, there is a huge variety of different soup bases available. Along with some quirkier ones such as their "Wine chicken soup". Shop G12, THE FOREST, 17 Nelson St, Mong Kok; facebook.com/HOTPOTPNP11 Westside
Do we finally have authentic Mexican in Hong Kong? No more strange American cheese garnishes or flavourless minced meats in our tacos? So far we don’t know enough about 11 Westside to be completely sure about its flavour, but it’s been stirring up quite a buzz. If they are as authentic as they package themselves, we’re expecting super flavoursome pollo asado and carne asada tacos with amazing guac and a strong squeeze of lime… let us update you when we know. 1/F The Hudson, 11 Davis St, Kennedy Town, 3996 7754; facebook.com/11Westside
