Yardbird
New York, dahling!
Goodiegal | Oct 19 2011
This place makes me feel like I am in New York, hanging out with my friends and eating some cool food. The no booking policy is a pain but if you go early enough, there is no line. After 8pm it becomes quite packed.

Touristy

Good food, but quite touristy. Peking duck is high standard, and BYOB policy very good.

Teppanyaki
Goodiegal | Oct 10 2011
Friend's birthday, we split everything in half. Fresh seafood, and especailly the scallops. The beef rolls were good, especially the Japanese beef - melt in the mouth and very strong beef taste. Miso soup used lobster head but taste was only ok. The extra beef bits were used for fried rice and was good and not oily. Cake was complimentary. Food and service both good, worth a visit.

Dragon Inn
Seafood dinner
Goodiegal | Oct 8 2011
Came with family to celebrate my mom's birthday. Ordered steamed fish (cannot remember what fish it was. Maybe garoupa?), salt and pepper lobster (super tasty!) razor clams with black bean sauce, steamed fresh abalone and deep fried oysters. Everything tasted fresh. You first place order at the seafood stall and then the restaurant charges you separately for preparation. Good dinner.

The Chinese Restaurant
All you can eat dim sum lunch!
Goodiegal | Oct 5 2011
Came here for the $218 all you can eat dim sum, and was impressed by the quality, and of course, the restaurant is in the Hyatt, which means it is comfortable and quiet surroundings, not the rowdy dim sum restaurants you usually get. Why can't more places be like this?

Lan Fong Yuen
Famous milk tea but is it worth it?
Goodiegal | Sep 30 2011
Milk tea filtered with stockings is synonymous with Lan Fong Yuen, and the tradition has made it a popular spot for one of the best milk teas in town. But a recent visit sitting amongst tables of Japanese and Mainland tourists highlighted the touristy side of things, and the tea was nothing better than any other similar eateries, nor was the food anything good to write home about. All in all, a very much hyped up brand with nothing special.

Quick lunch
Goodiegal | Sep 27 2011
Ingredients were very fresh and some dishes were interesting and others a bit avarage. Service was rushed. Didn't bother me as we were there for a quick lunch but it would not be acceptable if I were there for a nice dinner.

Not bad
Goodiegal | Sep 26 2011
Lunch with some out of towners brought us to the ifc branch for the first time. Not bad, but quite expensive for what it was. Also, a lot of dishes were not available or out of stock, which was a bit annoying.

Café Causette
Default restaurant
Goodiegal | Sep 24 2011
Love the relaxing atmosphere and the polite service. Great place with a wide menu selection for everyone. The variety on the menu is excellent - Chinese, Indian, South East Asian, Pizzas, Japanese and Western and even a kids menu. Tthe Western dishes are better (such as the club sandwich and the burger) but the Hainan chicken rice and laksa are also recommended.

Cho Won Korean Restaurant
Authenti
Goodiegal | Sep 21 2011
Don't be fool by the shabby interior; the Korean here is most authentic. The marinated kalbi is full of flavours and quite tender. The sliced pork belly is the tastiest, with a bit of fat bringing out the flavour. On the contrary, the bibimbup was quite average.

Fu Sing Shark Fin Seafood Restaurant
Noisy
Goodiegal | Sep 19 2011
Been to Wanchai and Causeway Bay. Prefer the latter because not as packed and noisy. Char Siu on every table so we ordered this too. The proportion of fat and lean meat is just great. Not too sweet either. Another signature dish is gold coin chicken. Basically cholesterol overload with fatty pork, chicken liver. The final product here is not too greasy but that means not as good as I hoped. One dish worth waiting for is the oxtail in red wine sauce. The wait is really quite long but worth it. Tender melt in your mouth oxtail in a tasty sauce. A satisfying meal.

The lunch sets are such good value, for around $200, you get a full teppanyaki set with beef, prawns and of course their excellent garlic fried rice.

Although lunch is half the price of dinner, it is very rushed at lunch and it is difficult to enjoy the meal. Dinner is definitely more value for money.

Gaylord Indian Restaurant
Everything Indian!
Goodiegal | Sep 1 2011
The lunch buffet allows us to try all dishes. Because it is a buffet, we did not expect the quality to be as good as normal. The waiter was very friendly and explained each dish to us. Out of all the selection, chicken korma is my favorite, probably because I cannot eat very spicy food (no vindaloo!)

Old-style Western food
Goodiegal | Aug 28 2011
Old-style Western food. One of HK's most original high-end French restaurant, which many say is past its glory days. I still go, for the good set lunches, that come to $2xx per person for a high quality four course meal. Bargain.

French Window, The
Good
Goodiegal | Aug 13 2011
My wife and I really like the high ceilings and large windows here. The food is flawless and the wine list is impressive. The tasting menu is around $1000; cheaper than places like Amber. Service has room for improvement if FW wants to compete with Amber and the likes. Otherwise the good work that the kitchen is doing will go to waste.

Goodiegal | Aug 7 2011
The “All you can eat special” sign outside its entrance prompted us to go in. Once inside, we found out it was for weekend lunch only but I was mesmerised by the rather spacious, high-ceiling room with a semi-circular dining bar. The dramatic lighting in the black wall in the dining room sets the stage for this dining theatre and screams designer chic. As expected, the bill at the end was a little shocking but it was one of the coolest dining experiences in Hong Kong. Just bring a fat wallet.

Dan Ryan's Chicago Grill
Inconsistent
Goodiegal | Jul 31 2011
When the food is good, its great. Ribs, nachos, burgers and big desserts (Molten Chocolate Cake and the Carrot Cake) are among our favorites. I think all branches have nice booths and are great for family night outs. However, it can be inconsistent which is prety bad for the price you pay. Most of the time, good, but just one sting and you're done. Also the cocktails are almost always watered down or having next to no alcohol so we don't bother ordering anymore.

Set meal
Goodiegal | Jul 28 2011
Turned up for afternoon snack and waited 10 minutes for a table. On such a hot summer day, the iced milk tea is a big relief, but the tea base is not strong enough. The marconi in soup with BBQ pork tasted pretty good. The thick toast with ham and fried eggs were ok. The scrambled egg at the next table looks better. The selling point of this place is clearly not the food.
