What do you like most about the website?
I like the layout and design of the website which is clear and easy to use. The information is useful and, more importantly, I find the comments by other wommers are realistic and credible.
I usually go to WOMguide every Thursday/Friday to pick something good for my weekend. If I am having a gathering with my friends and family, I will certainly use WOMguide to search for good places.
If you could only eat one cuisine for the rest of your life, which cuisine would you pick?
I would prefer Cantonese Yum Cha (飲茶) since it's the cuisine I have spent most of my time with my family. It's the taste of love and the tradition of Hongkongers. And It's politically incorrect to choose Western or Japanese food as my last meal. Last but not least, dim sum are really yummy though that it could be quite oily sometimes.
Which restaurant in Hong Kong is your favourite for enjoying the above cuisine?
I won't choose a Michelin 3-stars Chinese restaurant but the oldest and local one near my home in a public housing estate. The hygiene, food and service certainly won't be the best but the environment brings back mememories. Memory and love are sometimes the best ingredients of food.
If you had a foodie friend visit you in Hong Kong for the first time where would you take them to eat?
I will bring my friend to Fanling Luen Wo Market (聯和墟) which is not famous place in any traveler guides but I find it a traditional place to eat local food. There is an old shop for Chinese beef ball and pork hock, but you must get there by 4pm, otherwise everything will be sold out. In the same market, there are other signature restaurants for Chinese cuisine, Japanese ramen and steak house. All these are a mixture of foreign and local style.
Other than Luen Wo Market, Sai Kung is certainly a good place for visitors. The seafood cuisine is perfect followed by the famous local desserts. And then we can go and grab a beer, it would be a perfect night.
What is your favourite comfort food and where do you go for it?
Chinese dumplings, either steamed or deep fried. I can eat ten dumplings anytime and twenty when I'm hungry! I can have it in any way, either in a restaurant, at a trolley on the street, or re-heat the frozen ones at home.
Tell me about your last memorable meal and what made it so memorable.
A buffet meal in Hua Hin, Thailand. We were sitting on the beach, wearing no shoes and stepping on the sand. With the sea breeze and a beer, I felt like I was in paradise.
