The Pen's Private Label Wine

The Peninsula Boutique has introduced The Peninsula Pinot Noir and The Peninsula Chardonnay, both 2006 vintages, that have been created for the Peninsula Hotels by the Keller Estate Vineyard in Sonoma, California. The first is a Burgundian-style single-vineyard Chardonnay fermented in 30% new French Oak barrels, which goes through a second, malolactic fermentation designed to create a softness on the palate, with hints of brioche, vanilla and caramel. The pinot is described as having  a distinct red cherry mid-palate that reveals suggestions of boysenberry, with lightly toasted spice on the finish.

The wines are priced at $450 and $480 respectively. The wines will also be available in the restaurants of Peninsula Hotels worldwide.

Swiss Dinner Buffet

Fans of Swiss cuisine prepared to travel to Shatin can indulge in a range of typical dishes at the 2+2 cafe (Royal Park Hotel).

Top of the list is Cheese Fondue, a year-round Swiss favorite, using Blue Cheese or Parmesan cheese imported from Switzerland. Other dishes include Baked Swiss Tenderloin with Bacon (using Parma ham), Baked Swiss Orange Pork Leg, Roasted Swiss Duck Breast with Mint Caramelised Pineapple, Baked Sole Fillet with Swiss Garlic and Crispy Chinese Greens, Baked Jumbo Oyster with Swiss Herbs Sauce, and Baked Swiss Black Truffle Jumbo Pie.

A wine and food matching buffet will be held at The Royal Garden on November 27, showcasing wines from ten Australian wineries. The wines will be matched with the hotel’s food and representatives of each winery will attend the event. The hotel’s chief sommelier Creash Wong will also give advice on how each wine can be paired with gourmet food.

The boutique Australian wine and food matching buffet costs $668 per person. Group bookings are subject to savings: 2-3 persons 10%, 4-6 persons 15% saving, and 7 or above 20%.
