Gastro Pub Menu
Inside Hullett House is a small "gastropub", Mariners' Rest, which has launched a new menu. Dishes include Crispy Goat's Cheese with green leaf and herb salad, dry figs and Parma ham; Honey Roasted Gammon Ham Sandwich with cheddar cheese, caramelised onions and Pommery mustard on rye bread; and Beef Fajitas with strips of Australian beef served with flour tortillas, sour cream and salsa.
Sunday Carvery
The Globe (45 Graham Street) has introduced a two-course Sunday Carvery priced at $198 per person. The menu changes on a regular basis; examples from previous menus include a starter of Cherry Tomato & Basil Soup or Baby Spinach, Pear, Toasted Walnut Salad, plus a main of Slow Roasted Suckling Pig with Red Onion Stuffing or Angus Striploin with Garlic and Rosemary. Mains are served with Lyonnaise potatoes, roasted baby potatoes, honey glazed carrots, broccoli with garlic, buttered green beans, and Yorkshire pudding.
The Globe has no service charge.
Roka's New Dishes & Sake Sets
Roka has announced an evolving premium menu of new dishes and popular sake tasting sets. New items include Prime tuna maki roll topped with caviar, sesame and wasabi; Managatsuo No Tataki butterfish tataki, white asparagus and yuzu dressing; Foie Gras No Ume Shu with plum wine marinated foie gras and seaweed bread; and feather-light Ise Ebi No Tempura comprising whole lobster tempura with wasabi mayonnaise (on request).
Premier new Australian grain fed beef selections include 20oz Tomahawk Ribeye on the bone or 35oz Australian porterhouse, also perfect for 2-3 diners to share.
Seafood lovers may be tempted by the Taraba No Ponzu Miso: a whole king crab leg with ponzu miso, Unagi Kabayaki Freshwater Eel with pickled red onions or Ise Ebi No comprising whole lobster with lemon chilli (on request).
Made for sake enthusiasts and budding sake lovers alike, the new sake tasting sets ($475) include something for everyone and will change based on what diners want. The tasting sets, perfect for 2 to 3 people, feature a range of three different sakes - the infamous Akishka "bambi", Junmai sake is served in a collectible bambi printed bottle; it is full bodied with a dry finish - the strongest of the three in the set and perfect to have alongside robata dishes. A second sake is medium bodied - Shirayuki, HonjozoI - a refreshing sake for the start of a meal. Last, but certainly not least - a favourite amongst the ladies, is a sparkling sake Hitotoki Rose sake which is light and ideal for the start of a meal or with dessert.
