October is the busiest time of the year for us at WOM as it is the month that we start editing your reviews in preparation for the new WOM guide. October is also the beginning of a busy eating season. Now that the weather is finally getting cooler (with the emphasis on finally), we can look forward to some piping-hot clay pot rice with Chinese sausages, delicious hot pot, and my favourite, hairy crabs.
Even if you are not a fan of eating with your fingers - all ten of them - or you are simply inept at dissecting a crab (it's an education!), restaurants nowadays create elaborate hairy crab menus to make sure you can enjoy this seasonal delicacy. A few tips: drink ginger tea after a hairy crab meal to calm your stomach; do not eat crabs with persimmons as this would lead to abdominal pain; and avoid cold drinks during the meal (more reason to have another cup of warm Chinese yellow wine). Happy hairy crab-ing! Hope to see you all on 26 November!
