Wakayama has recently built a solid business lunch following, which forces rush-hour diners into impatient queues. But some may ask after eating whether it's worth the wait.
In Japan, it's the soup that can make or break a truly mouthwatering bowl of ramen. Although Wakayama hails from Osaka, where some of the most intensely flavored Japanese food originates, the IFC version unfortunately lacks any real flavor in its signature broth. What makes Wakayama worth a second visit, however, is its grilled pork, which diners can select as one of several toppings. Wakayama marinates hearty chunks of meat, which are then cooked over a flame broiler, giving the pork a delicious smokey flavor and succulent texture. Whatever flavor is lacking in the soup is almost made up for in this absolutely savory topping.

OK
Finally something new and fresh! Can't say the food is top notch or the service 1st rate but the former is cheap and cheerful while the latter is honest. The fish broth is pretty nice, but doesn't compare to the traditional soy sauce based broth or pork bone soup.
