Hotel Dining – Santa Lucia Restaurant & Lounge
10.11.2008
Santa Lucia is the flagship restaurant in the recently open Hotel Panorama in Tsim Sha Tsui, the sister property of Hotel LKF. Heading up the kitchen is Nathan Hogan, who used to be the executive chef at Hotel LKF’s restaurant Azure. I was looking forward to going to Santa Lucia for dinner as I had heard from a foodie, who travels the world to eat, that Hogan’s modern European cuisine was impressive…she was right.

Date night

The dark and modern dining room is quite trendy. Tables near the windows offer a panoramic view of the Victoria harbour. The somewhat dim lighting redirects your attention to the view and is relaxing and quite romantic! Perfect for date night.

Take in the romantic ambience and you might be drunk before dinner begins. Superior lobster bisque that is nicely presented. In fact, all the food has an interesting presentation. One can tell the kitchen staff spends a lot of time on that. Sky Bar is good for a cocktail (or two!) before dinner. Overall very good value for money.

Last week I went to azure with some friends and we decided to try the tasting menu, and it was surprisingly good! I went there a couple months ago and it wasn't great, but I decided to go there again, since my friends never tried azure before and wanted to try it. The taste of their food has improved and their service was a bit better, eventhough it can still be better. I would still recommend this restaurant to other people, because the ambience is just amazing, and the price wasn't bad for 7 courses, combined together, but it was still good considering it was in Lan Kwai Fong.

As an Islander, I seldom dine on Kowloon side. Santa Lucia offers a good panoramic view of the island side which add to the list of "where to take your tourist friends". Food was ok for the price you are paying. Service was more attentive then expected on a quiet night.
