The temperature has dropped a little lately and it makes me crave comfort food. I know I know, that is just a poor excuse, especially when the weather is still in the mid-20s and standing on the street for more than half an hour is enough to make one sweat. However, it is fall in the rest of the world. To some people, fall means the beginning of hairy crab season, while others are getting ready to savour white truffle. In Japan, October marks the start of the Hiroshima oyster season, a time I look forward to every year.

    新開的日本連鎖炸豬排店,據說店子本店在銀座,晚市不設電話訂座,和友人伉儷三人準六時(晚市開始營業時間)到達,順利入座。

    檯上白色大壺內是蘸炸豬排、海鮮的醬油,玻璃瓶子內的是芝麻沙拉油和柚子沙拉油,芝麻沙拉油一般都很好吃,而這柚子沙拉油也很不錯,酸香清新一點也不帶苦澀。黑色小瓶內的是芥末醬。

    定食漬青瓜和津白絲,青瓜極爽脆,可無限量添加。另外服務生也會奉上爽甜好吃的椰菜絲,也是無限量添加。

    定食還附味噌湯和飯,飯可選白飯或麥飯。問飯是否用日本米?答:係,日本米,在黑龍江種的!!!那白飯下的水過多,濕了少許,而且沒有米香,不像在吃日本米飯。懷念在日本溫泉旅館早上吃的熱飯,香甜好吃。

    一碗黑白芝麻,磨一磨令香氣更釋放,加醬油後用來蘸豬排吃特別滋味。

    豬排有分特上豬排和普通豬排,問服務生小哥有什麼分別,小哥:特上豬排是日本豬肉。啊,會不會很肥呢?小哥:不會。那,三個哈日港燦毫不考慮當然點特上豬排。要不要加大,多約 50g?嗯,三個人食喎,加大啦,免得不夠吃嘛。

    豬排來了一看,唔肥就有鬼,幾大塊肥膏!另一端的豬排,更完全是肥肉!
    不肥的豬排肉又很硬,肉汁不夠也沒日本豚肉的香和濃郁肉味。失敗,未知虛實之前,應該點便宜等級的肉,有什麼意外也可減低損失!向小哥反映特上豬排好肥,他說:豬排係比豬柳肥的。

    那,到底是日本什麼地方來的豬肉?小哥:宮城...嗯,宮崎....係九州的宮城。吓?!雖然我方向感差,地理知識貧乏,但我也知道宮城在本州東北,即係海嘯重災區之一。

    另點了炸蝦,蝦個子不大,炸粉很厚入口肥膩,蝦也欠鮮味。

    還有豬柳,沒特上豬排那麼肥,肉質不韌也有點肉汁,但也欠豚肉香。奇怪是,烤豬柳和豬排的粉入口很脆,不會很油膩,雖然也有點厚度,但比炸蝦的炸粉好吃。

    炸物水準一般,但大家一致覺得味噌湯好喝。三個人的總結是,應該不會再來,難道花二百元來吃椰菜絲、漬青瓜和味噌湯嗎?!走時八時多,門口有很多人排隊,其實,我覺不值得花時間在這兒排隊。

    Loving cutlets and everything crunchy. I'm so glad this Saboten (unlike the one at Airport) is closer to home. I particularly enjoyed the "pork roll" cutlet, featuring three different fillings -- cheese with bacon/ asparagus with bacon/ pickled plum with shiso.

    The pickled-plum with shiso is my favorite, deep purple filling so tangy and sharp, wrapped inside a rolled up thin pork meat and deep fried until crunchy. While the pork is outstanding, it's the wheat rice that steals the show. It doesn't taste like oatmeal (thank god!) and it's moist with some chewy bits, and if I had a bigger appetite I probably would refill too.
