New Opening - RED SoHo
12.08.2009
A chic New York-Style restaurant and bar has transformed the SoHo landscape and social scene. Bustling since it opened in early July, RED SoHo extends Pure Dining's infectious philosophy of "Work Hard, Play Hard" to the other side of Central. It has quickly become a hip hotspot to eat, drink, see and be seen.

Recent renovation
Hunnypot | Sep 18 2011
Just popped by for drinks after the recent renovations and I like the outdoor set-up, which is a good improvement from before. Casual atmosphere, great outdoor space. Perfect for happy hour drinks and snacks.

Healthy dining
Slimeats | Sep 7 2011
Ordered the cobb salad, which didn't turn out to be that healthy as the portion was HUGE! The chicken was a bit dry, but otherwise, the salad was good, and I was so full afterwards. So much for a light lunch.

RED for Brunch (al fresco)
jason.bonvivant | Nov 4 2009
It was a sudden decision of mine to visit RED @ IFC on this lovely Saturday afternoon for a relaxing brunch! My last visit here was a while ago spending the afternoon under the sun reading. This time I can give their food items a try. You may ask why the restaurant opted for a self-serving approach, it is because this outdoor podium / al fresco dining area is a public area and hence no service can be provided. I am perfectly fine with that as long as I can enjoy my food under the sun. Just look around, it is not an everyday chance one can relax and enjoy a meal with such a view of Hong Kong.
It was perfect to me, not humid and not too hot (under the shade of course!). There were actually a lot of people dining here at this hour, all looking for some sun shines I imagined. If the weather is to get cooler (likely in a month or so), I might just spend the whole day here read, drinking cocktails and just to chill!
(1) 3-Egg Omelette
It was HUGE and thick! I think there were more than 3 eggs. Among the many fillings selection, I picked mushroom, baked ham, sweet corns and cheddar cheese. Wow, there were plenty of ingredients / fillings in that omelette as well. I love the sweet corns which added hints of sweetness to the whole dish. The omelette itself was a bit overcook but definitely acceptable. No surprises for the fries. As for the cappuccino, while it was rather weak, the foam was a surprise. It was very fine and creamy, not bad at all.
Likes:
* atmosphere / al fresco dining
* very creamy foam from the cappuccino
* plenty of fillings / ingredients !
Dislikes:
* weak coffee

Fantastic drinks and great view at the ifc branch. The new branch near the escalator is trendy and hip, and makes you feel like you are in New York. Great atmosphere. Excellent lobster roll and truffle risotto.

What a beautiful area for fantastic after-work drinks, and pretty decent food too!

Nice ambiance, poor food
LH | Aug 5 2009
Went for dinner as we had heard good things about Red. The atmosphere and service were good, but the food was a big let down. We ordered seabass - slightly undercooked and a bit fussy, but OK - and the black spaghetti with clams - amateur presenation, very undercooked clams and an uninspiring tomato sauce. At this price level, I expected more competent execution. I am sure that this is a great place for a drink, but won't be back for dinner.

tuna tartare!
monkey butt | Apr 6 2009
One of the good things I find about RED is that its kitchen stays open through out the entire day. I can therefore enjoy one of my favorite and most recommended dish - tuna tartare. It is essentially raw tuna mixed with feta cheese, chopped spring onions, green salad with a dash of sesame oil and vinegar. Its unusual combination seem to complement each of the ingredients in the dish itself: the feta cheese seems to add an extra silky smooth taste to the tuna, and the sesame/vinegar sauce simply adds a sharp taste to the rest of the dish.

Bar with a view
Freddy | Jan 19 2009
Had drinks with a friend last weekend at RED. What a great view. Friday night the place was packed and they had a great DJ playing - a reall mix and mash of the coolest hits and classics. My wife had one of the signature cocktails - a Strawberry blonde which was so good she had to have another. The outside area has no table service but the staff worked quickly and efficiently to ensure no-one waited long. But the view of the harbour was the best we found. All round a great place to take a date, a friend or just the family to enjoy.

Love this place!!
Freddy | Jan 11 2009
Had dinner at RED on a recent visit to Hong Kong. The views were spectacular - one of the best in Hong Kong and certainly the best from Hong Kong Side. Food was great - a great selection of healthy foods for my wife. I had the Wagyu steak which was cooked perfectly and was much cheaper than the steak house we had visited a few days before. Their signature cocktails were tasty as well - I think one was called a strawberry blonde.
As for service - everyone was very friendly and helpful - there is no service outside as it is a public area, but the staff are helpful with the menu and they have a pager system to let you know when your food is ready.
I would recommend this bar to anyone - great views, great food, great drinks and really friendly staff.
We will go back when we visit Hong Kong next.
