Lots of choices in the menu, actually making it a little difficult to decide. I'm not a fan of pub food so decided to try the rotisseries instead. Among 8 of us, we ordered the lamb, the suckling pig, and the roast chicken. The suckling pig was absolute heaven. The chicken was a bit try but dunk it in the gravy and it's actually quite nice. The lamb shoulder was very tender and the portion is huge. We also had a sides of mash, fries, and a salad to share. The fries were absolutely delicious and smell wonderful. Not greasy like normal.
The service on the other hand was not up to par but then according to my friends they never enjoyed decent service at Pawn. Luckily, the food did make up for that but the management should really look into hiring better staff.

Good
If you miss your pint of London Pride, or your sheperd's pie, come here for some British ale and gastropub food, with Chef David Tamlyn. The building itself is a novelty, with cool designs on the walls, and chairs from my old boarding school.

The fish and chips were crisp, and you can't argue with the portion sizes. My colleague said his bone marrow was delicious, and our guest tucked in to the generous lamb chops with evident enjoyment. Our balcony table gave a nice view of Wan Chai- if such a thing is possible- and the service was fine, none of the complaints that others have reported. Good wine selection, as has been noted. You get what you pay for here, and that's a good thing.
Have only managed lunch there 4 times and the food was good. Their Mesclun mix was great and interesting. The portions are huge. The service was good and responsive. Can't say there are any bargains here but it as very fair for what they gave you. The space outside is very well done and great on sunny days. Meats and Fish are cooked perfectly although a few dishes lacked any big flavours and seemed flat but that may be a stylistic difference.
When I first went to The Pawn for dinner, it was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise: This British gastropub is hidden behind a gentrified facade of an old Chinese style building, which made it quite peculiar and ironic considering that the cuisine within it bears a huge contrast from its exterior appearance. The dining area, despite being too dim for my liking, is furnished with comfortable vintage-looking furnishing that help produce a very relaxed atmosphere.
As for food, the lamp chops were perfectly cooked with a soft, pink center and a chewy outer brown exterior. The mint gel was possibly home-made because it was fresh but not overly sweet like it had too much preservatives mixed into it. The Pawn also has a large wine selection and their maitre'd seemed quite happy to let diners take a few samples before making a decision. Though I must say it is generally quite pricey and I wouldn't go there without it being a special occassion.
wacky building, wacky decor, wacky service... food is decent, service is patchy, love the decor, and the formula works... it is always packed!
I hosted a dinner for 12 recently. The food was delicious & the portions were huge. The service was a BIG improvement from its early days.
Friends have told me the service at Pawn is rubbish but when I had dinner there last week, the service was not only attentive but very accommodating. The restaurant was not full that night, which might explain it. The lamb shoulder was tender but already lukewarm by the time it was served, which was a pity.
