Like Los Angeles - Looks good but average quality food.

Tried a pasta and a pizza. The pasta (cream and mushroom w/pork) was standard quality in that pasta looked housemade and cooked properly. Sauce was overwhelmingly mushroom dominated and frankly if there was or wasn't any pork in it, I wouldn't have noticed as it didn't bring anything to the dish. Problem was (and for my italian wife) that the dish left a finish in our mouths that was a bit grainy like there was too much flour or something that was not pleasant.
The pizza (Margarita) was thin crust and texturally was fine for me, a touch too soggy for my wife. The flavours again were OK but lacked any punch, so no highs or lows and kind of boring. The sauce needs more acid to give it some punch. As a result there is no contrast between the sauce and cheese so overall very flat.
We saw the table next to us had ordered the prosciutto/ruccola pizza but again I can see that the ham was sliced too thick so was a tad tough to bite through (for the patrons). looked OK but clearly they should not have the leg of pork in the kitchen and sitting out through the entire dinner service where it can get warm. When it warms up even with a meat slicer, it's tough to cut thin pieces that are essential plus the heat will change the flavour of the pork. Top Italian purveyors use hand operated meat slicers because the heat from power meat slicers is too high and will change the flavour of the meat. Sticking the leg in the kitchen is not a great idea for quality but certainly makes preparation easier.
Clearly they aren't using cheap ingredients and they are trying but execution is just not there. Ambiance was fine and on the modern side but like the overall experience, just OK.
Pricey for what they deliver as 2 dishes and one wine and coke still almost $500. Would be OK if food quality was up to that price point. Not surprisingly then it wasn't full despite other restaurants having a wait list nearby.
