Le 188° Restaurant & Lounge

The expectation you have as a diner of the food experience you will have can be influenced by many factors. For example, if you are dining at a home-style, neighbourhood place you will have very different expectations than if dining at a Michelin star restaurant. External factors such as location, ambience, outlook, can also influence expectations.

What service?
po sir | Oct 19 2009
We sat down and waited 20 minutes before someone decided to take our order. Very bad!
Food is nothing extraordinary either.
The view is very nice. Maybe better for drinks?- How much did you spend?

Utterly disappointed!
oink oink! | Oct 18 2009
The best thing about this restaurant is really just the view. I was utterly disappointed by the decor, service, and food quality for the price charged. Decor reminds me of Macau casino restaurants with a mainland feel. Service was slow, unprofessional, and at times, nonexistent. The wait staff were not well-trained - don't expect your wine glass to be filled unless you ask for it. As for food, the wagyu steak for $498 was not worth it. The oysters were not fresh, lamb was not cooked the way requested, and all the "Nitro" food and food in general, tasted bland. It was a true pity that Le 188's food cannot match its beautiful view of Hong Kong.

agree with many comments by Casper, and think it is strange re dress code as I was not told this...but disagree about the decor...I think it is a stylish use of a retro look with a little bit of space age thrown in.
Some dishes look better than they taste but def creative. Fantastic view.- How much did you spend?

super view

Most impressed by the view. Judging the location and the price you would expect better interior/furnatures and service. The setting reminds me a bit like a canteen which was a disappointment as I booked for a special celebration and the receptionist requested semi formal dress-code . The waiter on the night kept spilling drinks and knocking over cutleries, one could tell it is newly opened.
The tasting menu is quite interesting and creative. Every course was artisticly presented, a nice surprise everytime the food was brought on. Food in general is tasty. Decent wine list.
Relaxing atmosphere. Worth visiting even if it is just for the view!- How much did you spend?

It's unique location gives a great view of both HK (Central / IFC) and Kowloon side. The food is also pretty good too.

Great view, great value lunch
star888 | Aug 18 2009
Tried the set lunch and thought it was a value-for-money way to sample the cuisine. Food was hit and miss but the view is a winner!
