Bairin

I really enjoy the tonkatsu here. The pork chop from their pork chop lunch set was quite moist and juicy, and was lined with a little fat. As this was "white" pork, I am not going to comment on the intensity of the flavour, but the tenderness and juicyness actually excels that of Tonkichi at WTC. The only drawback is the lack of that "grinding sesame" experience, which is not available here.

Tonkatsu set
Eaterking | Sep 3 2011
Although there are other dishes on the menu, tonkatsu is the signature dish. I ordered the pork loin tonkatsu set, which is supposed to be less fatty than the pork fillet set. Each set comes with shredded cabbage, rice, miso soup and pickles. The portion is quite adequate, even for a man, and you can get refill with the cabbage. The cabbage was crispy to the bite, and I really like the salad dressing. The ifc branch seems to be very busy for lunch but ok for dinner.

Tonkatsu
Slimeats | Aug 6 2011
Very decent pork chop. The batter is not too thick and it doesn't taste greasy. The meat is not dry but I think it is a bit too dense. Well that also shows no tenderiser has been used. Conclusion is it is worth a try but not worth standing in line for.

Too salty
Meltingpot | Aug 3 2011
Usually I order the tonkatsu with scrambled egg bowl (with rice) and the pork chop sandwich. Not many people know Ginza bairin is famous for the former. Anyway today I decided to try the sliced pork with ginger sauce. It was so salty that I had to send it back to the kitchen. Later the waiter told me I am not the only one who complains. Maybe it is just not to our liking. I will stick to the tonkatsu with scrambled egg bowl next time.
