Where to Satisfy that Chocolate Craving
14.04.2009
People who refer to themselves as a chocoholic will readily admit that they constantly need to satisfy their cravings. This “need” is often the subject of articles and much discussion. It goes beyond just a passing desire, and involves hunting down the best places to satiate their hunger.

Oldie but Goodie
minestrone | Sep 29 2010
The Chesa is definitely an oldie, but goodie all the way. It's been in that little corner of the Peninsula for ages, and it's been consistently fully booked on weekends!
It's no wonder as the food is DELICIOUS. Fondues are a no-brainer but my personal favourite is the raclette with chewy new potatoes and the stewy ox-tail. I ask for rice to go with the ox-tail, so not to let that sauce go to waste.
It's dim, dark and romantic, perfect for a not-stuffy but classy date night. Service is full marks, with Captain Siu Ping charming all guests at this top-notch restaurant.
Most importantly, the freebie melted cheese bread at the start of the meal is a sure sign that your evening is about to get much better!

Cheesier than anything you can imagine

Cheesy, but in a nice way. If you don't like cheese, don't come here! I was reminded of this last month when I came for my friend's birthday dinner. I could smell the cheese the minute I stepped into the chalet-look-alike restaurant.
We started with the raclette and the fondue, my favourites. The rich and filling cheese is best eaten in the winter, but in Hong Kong people go for hotpot in the summer too, right? I then ordered the braised beef as a main course. Boy, the succulent meat is marvellous. Despite being half full from the fondue and raclette, I finished the whole plate. With almost no room for dessert, I just had a bite of the fruits that came with the chocolate fondue.
We didn't mind forking out $1000 each for dinner as the food was top-notch and the service impeccable. Truly Peninsula standard.

Good
My favourite fondue

Housed in the Peninsula, Chesa has this beautiful homey Swiss mountain lodging feel.
The highlight for me is the choice of fondues. But their meat dishes are also mouthwatering-ly good.
Service is good, but the wine list is better.

Good
Cheese....

There aren't many places in town where you can get raclette and fondue, and this is the clear choice. I'm tempted to just keep getting plates of the raclette! I think they do a good goulash, too
Worth going back!

Price for main course from mostly $200+ plus the most costly dish of Veal Chop with Brandy-infused apricot .. of $350 is not expensive considering the venue at Pennisula and setting. We drank one bottle of sparkling white + Pinoi + Hungarian dessert wine and ample food and coffee - $800 per head with free BOD cake is not bad at all. Service is superb.
The perfect cheese fondue

My parents took me to Chesa when I was a kid, and I came here with my boyfriend last night. The fondue is amazing! The carpet and wallpaper need updating. Service is perfect, as always!
