Restaurant Ambiance
All furniture is custom designed by the international renowned local designer, Steve Leung. The striking suspended screen of undulating walnut wood slats between the main dining area and the lounge area has created a natural feel of winds and waves. Dominated by an oversized velvet central sofa and three massive lighting decorations from the ceiling, the contemporary yet cozy setting in Cafe is perfect for family and business gatherings. Inspired by Yucca de Lac, a famous backdrop for countless Cantonese films of the 1960s and 1970s, guests can also dine at the spacious terrace which overlooks the pool and mountains, adding more value to the dining experience.

Like buffet, like the variety!
Mr & Mrs | Aug 1 2011
Mr & Mrs like buffet, not for the quantity but the variety. We can try all our desire without any hesitation.
Hamburger with BBQ meat, salad with Balsamic vinegar, BBQ lambs were all my selections. Mrs. was crazy about the desserts, fresh cut fruits, ice-cream and seafood. See, how can we accommodate at once? Here in ST Hyatt is well served the purpose.
Food, environment and services here are excellent. We will sure visit again.

Solid buffet

A reliable and consistently good choice for a feast such as a buffet or a quick bite. Service can be more professional but the staff are all young and energetic. A friend told me they only just graduated from hotel school and therefore lack the experience but that is made up by their enthusiasm.

Walked past this cafe last time when I took my parents to Shatin 18 for the Peking duck. It is not a convenient location but since I was meeting up with some friends and their kids for lunch in Shatin, I picked this cafe.
It is not a big restaurant, but the high ceiling makes the space less cramped. Almost every table opted for the buffet option, and so did we. Big mistake. Kids under the age of 8 don't understand the concept of buffet. The parents were running after them from beginning to end.
The choice of dishes is inferior to the buffet at Grand Hyatt but everything was quite fresh. In general the staff is quite young so while they all have a great smile and are polite, the lack of experience really shows.

A welcome addition

Finally somewhere in this part of the NT with decent food. Just missed the popular lunch buffet and ordered from the a la carte. Had an excellent smoked salmon, orange and rocket starter. The pan-fried seabass was excellent, except we only got one potato and the menu had potatoes listed. the fish and chips was better than expected, fresh not frozen fish, and worked well with the ice cold beer. Def be back.
Good light tea set

Hyatt is an impressive hotel in my overseas travel experience. My first stay there was in Shanghai, then Beijing and then Tokyo. All were excellent experience as they provided me the highest quality services. But my first dining experience at this hotel group was in the old TST Hyatt Regency. When it was closed, so many HK people including me went there for meals or drinks with memorial purposes.
After so many years, it resurfaced in Shatin and got the cooperation status with CUHK as a teaching hotel there. In a sunny Saturday, I went into CUHK in order to see this new hotel. I also tried to have a light tea set myself as I got a dinner appointment with my friends later that night. I ordered a Club Sandwiches, a Tiramisu and an Iced Lemon Tea.
The club sandwiches are fine and good taste as usual. I cannot say it was specific there but it will be as you buy one at other hotel restaurants.
The tiramisu is great. It is carried in a big bowl. Really impressive with soft nature, densed coffee taste and not too much chocolate in the front. Size is reasonable big but it will not give you a full feeling.
The ice-tea is impressive too. Although the ice cubes inside were not made of ice tea (not like Intercontinental Hotel or previous Regency Hotel), it was still giving me diluted taste when they were melting. The taste of tea were good and really having tea taste.
I will go there again for buffets or brunch. But this light set has already giving me good impression.
