BLT Burger
10.02.2010
I love a good burger, and I don't mean the type that passes for a burger at the leading fast-food chains, I mean a real burger. A burger that is almost too big to bite into, with a juicy, tasty filling, using quality ingredients, made with TLC.

New Opening - Blue Smoke Bar-B-Que
05.07.2010
My dining companion jokingly said that restaurant group, Dining Concepts, should change its name to Meat Concepts, he has a point. Lately each restaurant that the group opens has been meat centric, for example BLT Steak, BLT Burger, and Bistecca. The group's most recent opening is Blue Smoke Bar-B-Que, perhaps the most meaty restaurant yet.

Burger: Casual but Good
honeycaramels | Aug 7 2011
BLT burger, unlike BLT itself, has a high turnover rate, and it's more casual restaurant too. I may not know every cut of beef served at BLT, but burger is something that requires just the same amount of knowledge to make a good burger. I tried the Blue Cheese Burger called "Roaring Forties Blue" and Thick cut fries. I have never quite been a fan of blue cheese, but I still ordered this blue cheese burger. I was tempted to order a milkshake, but looking to the table next to me, the burger serving seems to be really big! (I was beginning to regret ordering fries...)
Other than the fact that it has blue cheese in it. The 6 oz grilled beef patty is crusty on the outside and moist (a little rare, which is juicy and Yummy!) inside. The blue cheese brings out the flavour while caramelized onions tones it down a little. The blue cheese is nothing too strong, and even people who don't usually like blue cheese can give it a try.
Thick cut fries are crispy and the inside of the fries are very hot! It's made to order, plus the waiting time isn't all that long because of the high turnover rate. I am, however, dying to try the spiked milkshake the next time I come though.- How much did you spend?

至於厚身薯條又真係唔錯..- How much did you spend?

Maybe the best burger in town...

Burgers are very subjective, but this is the best we've had in HK, in particular the beef. They also cooked a perfect medium rare, which nobody in HK seems to know how to do. The bun or condiments may be better elsewhere (Kua Aina in Tokyo anyone?), but the burger here is worth the trip. The service was also fantastic on our visit. We recommend the burgers, the fat chips, and the chili. The only downside is you need to be prepared to queue if you come at prime time.

Juicy burgers

For those who are not familiar with Ocean Terminal, BLT Burger is not easy to find. Tucked away from the bustling corridors, the entrance is small but you can't miss the wooden windows that separate the restaurant from the mall. It wasn't full the day I went for lunch so I was seated right away. The first thing I noticed was the super strong A/C, but the manager was nice enough to turn it down for us.
The menu is quite big for a burger joint. We ordered the BLT burger with cheddar, onion rings, and sweet potato fries.
Onion rings are super crunchy but the batter was just too thick. The sweet potato fries were crunchy and stayed crunchy throughout lunch. Just the right balance of sweetness and saltiness.
The 7oz. burger was cooked to medium. Juicy, moist and flavourful. One of the best burgers i have had in hong kong.
The only complaint is that different waiters tried to take away my plate before I was done! Just because only the gherkin was left on the plate doesn't mean I'm done!- How much did you spend?

No, not bacon lettuce and tomato, although that is on offer. BLT is Bistro Laurent Tourendel, named for the acclaimed chef and this is his interpretation of a classic American burger joint. The menu is a fun combination of burgers, milkshakes (spiked and non), salads, and for the non-beef eater, they have chicken, salmon and even a veggie falafel on offer. Big plus? A&W root beers! Bet you haven't had those in a while..
I am boring - I only do burgers at burger joints. On my first visit, I had the classic, which was certainly promising enough for me to come again. The burgers are made from a variety of cuts from the cow to deliver a juicy, beefy, yet relatively easy for the lazy to chew on.
Today, I had the Tex Mex. It is a messy burger to hold in your hands - so stick to the cutlery on offer. Slathered with chili, jalapenos and melted Montery Jack, it was like having 2 meals. For those who don't like spice, this is not for you. But otherwise, it is a fun burger to eat. The spice and little bit of heat adds to the appetite and so I realise I was fooled, but only after I finished everything. Oh well, extra hour on the tennis court tomorrow.
And to top it off, wash down with a strawberry milk shake. This has got to be one of the better ones around. Full of fresh strawberries, it tasted slightly like a healthy smoothie, but don't be fooled, this is the real McCoy.
My only disappointment were the fat fries. They were too fat, so weren't tasty enough since there wasn't enough of a crisp skin to go round. Maybe try the skinny next time, I am not one for waffle fries either. But you know there's a next time! Till I get my next burger craving...
