New Opening - Alfie's by KEE
17.05.2010
First impressions are important and people do make decisions (rightly or not) based on them. My first impression of Alfie's by KEE was that it was smaller than expected and certainly smaller than the photos I had seen portray. My second impression was, it was too noisy for a restaurant, having to shout at my dining companion for the first 1.5 hours not conducive to a relaxed meal.

In the Mood for Brunch
07.03.2011
The long awaited moment has finally arrived. Time to whip off all those heavy sweaters and boots, and finally bring out the snazzy shades again. The temperatures have finally risen to a comfortable level, and what better way to start the weekend than by having an endless lunch (more commonly called brunch) while basking in the warm sun. It seems to go hand-in-hand, don't you think?

booked over a week in advance for lunch but still they placed us at a wrong table with loads of conditions of when to return the table etc.
the food was mediocre for the price we paid
the interior design and ambiance is excellent but nothing is good otherwise.- How much did you spend?

watch out for the staff

Had a freat night out at Alfie's last week with a group of friends. Our overall experience was marred by 2 things.
1. the waitress knocked over a full glass of wine and then refilled it not from the bar but from our bottle
2. we ordered a large bottle of water but they didn't have any so brought us 3 small bottles instead and charged us $90 (per 75cl) rather than the $70 the single bottle would have cost.- How much did you spend?

Cool spot

A very cool spot, with some good ol' fish and chips. Food is overall very good, but the staff could be a bit more attentive.

A truly hearty joint for those with a heart to spare

Inspirational to say the least, given the hoardes of people packing the place every day/night and the time in between. Alfie's has definitely found the gaping void of chic, heavy wine and casual traditional dining market in Hong Kong. Great atmosphere (not for those who has a soft voice, or earing problems), nice drinks (and the proximity to the Berry Bros' fine wine shop, literally a cork throw away), simple yet delicious food (be prepare to run two marathons with a fridge on your back in order to burn off the calories). All in all a good experience. Keep up the good work! And keep the noise down please - some how

Disagree with the previous review re the food, not good enough to warrant the prices, simple food yes, delicious is not a word I would use, esp not given the prices, average at best.

Delicious addition to Hong Kong
DD | Apr 29 2010
The atmosphere of an old gentlemen's club spiked with nice views and trendy art is complemented by delicious and nicely presented food. Simple dishes without much fuss but wonderful taste. The restaurant is small and the menu is very limited, allowing a fast and fresh preparation of dishes such as Goat Cheese Tart, Prawn Cocktail, Leek & Bean Salad, Fish & Chips, Salmon with Lentils, Bangers & Mash and Apple Crumble. All of which were great. The Bar “Tenderettes”, all women, were a bit slow and so focused on their work that they forgot to smile, but the Service team on the floor made up for this with efficient and very friendly service. Especially the hostess was a delight, trying hard to accommodate us waiting for over an hour for a table since we did not make reservations. A great place that lets you forget the slightly elevated prices!
