Pasta
Happyeater | Sep 17 2011
It's been a long time since I came back to 208 because the first experience was very mediocre. This time I was told there is a new chef and the experience is much better. I like the texture of the pasta. Also the simple sauce is to my liking. This is how pasta is supposed to be served - not swimming in sauce! We went for an early dinner and it was quite pleasant but it got quite noisy (it was a Thursday) when we left. We have decided we will come back for dinner again if we are in the neighbourhood.

New York style
Butterball | Sep 17 2011
Went back last Saturday again and the place was packed - hardly anywhere to stand at the bar! Ordered a pizza in the bar; the toppings are very interesting. We tried the potato raddiccio and porchetta and it was fantastic. Once we sat down upstairs, we shared the octopus starter which was very tasty. The rib-eye was grilled the real Italian way with a beautiful dry rub. The crispy Prosecco potatoes that came with the steak were crispy around the edges and perfectly seasoned. 208 has improved so much, and anyone who enjoys the New York style ambience should not miss it.

Improved food
Verseater | Sep 15 2011
Pleasantly surprised by the much-improved food at 208. The bar on the ground floor is fantastic for a drink and some expensive nibbles, i.e. Iberico pork. Service is also better than before - attentive but not intrusive. Will recommend to friends who want some casual Italian food.

Private room

Dark, romantic, rustic. Above average Italian food. Private room is good for small party. Creamy buratta cheese is delicious.

208 Duecento Otto

The space is cool, with a buzzing bar and a comfortable upstairs environment. We loved the pizzas, the pastas, and the antipasto dishes.

Worth Trying
jac | Dec 12 2010
The food there is quite delicious, even though pizzas are a classic, simple dish, they make it stunningly, just different from a normal pizza. The mood the the restaurant was very upbeat, but quite dark, a bit hard to see things

Worth a try
Steph | Sep 20 2010
Though the reviews mentioned the executive chef is from Babbo, I doubted the same quality food can be brought to HK. To my surprise, the pasta was done quite well. It was freshly made, the sauce was perfect, and pasta cooked to al dante. My friend ordered their steak and it was decent as well. Don't expect a Babbo experience, but worth giving it a try with HK standard in mind. I would go back to give their pizzas a try ... even though they won't be made with NY water.

new hip eatery
Tim | Aug 1 2010
Very cool decor, very busy on weekends, and pretty decent food.
Although I did find the famous pizzas here to be OK. They are good, probably one of the better ones in HK, but the dough could have a bit more taste... For almost $200 a pizza, sorry, not that good.- How much did you spend?

fails to deliver!
DD | Jul 23 2010
What a shame, best Pizza in town, amazing decor and yet a complete let down. Tried it 4 times (I love the Pizza), only to be disappointed every single time.
Music that is louder and harder than my Techno Rave days, and when politely asking the Manager to turn it down, we got told that she does not think it is loud (despite her having to ask us to repeat our request because she could not hear us the first time)
In general the Senior staff including the Security Door Men are simply rude and arrogant. Only when they saw us getting greeted by prominent Food critics and HK celebrities, friendliness as well as two bottles of wine on the house were all around us.
The food at its best is mediocre, actually the calamari with fennel inedible! The Pizza delicious but at HK$170 better should be!
If they continue with this attitude, the novelity will soon wear off and their condescending glances when mentioning that one dared to come without a reservation will quickly fade, as it will be empty!- How much did you spend?

Pricey but Tasty
foodieben | Jul 13 2010
208 ticks all the boxes in terms of taste (recommend the tagliatelle, and the steak main), except the pizza, which was doughy...but in terms of value for money it isn't...esp the pasta which are small servings for the price.

Great food all round

The Pomodori e Uovo is to die for and overall felt the quality and detail to the food made it worth the price. Good selection of Italian wines and would also recommend any of the main dishes especially the meats.

pizzas are decent
Yvonne | Jun 18 2010
With a great big pizza oven, you'd expect pizzas out of this world. It isn't. But then, they are not bad either. Perhaps one of the better places for pizzas in HK.
